Our client, a state level alcohol control agency, required assistance in developing and executing a comprehensive performance testing program focused on their merchandising website and online lottery event platforms. The organization had previously engaged another supplier for limited testing activities but lacked confidence in the quality of the test scripts developed and the reliability of the test results generated. As the client transitioned toward a business model with significantly greater emphasis on ecommerce operations, they needed assurance that their website infrastructure could effectively handle the anticipated increase in user traffic and transaction volumes. The client sought a partner capable of building the complete testing platform, establishing the necessary infrastructure, developing standardized processes for the testing program, and then executing comprehensive testing activities while delivering detailed, actionable results.
What CiTechT did

CiTechT proposed a structured project approach organized into focused delivery sprints. Our project structure featured a CiTechT QA Solutions Lead who provided guidance and execution oversight, supported by Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) specialists selected by the Solutions Lead based on their specific expertise aligned with the project requirements. Our testing strategy encompassed developing a roadmap for performance testing activities and establishing a testing environment designed to support ongoing future testing needs. The team analyzed existing JMeter scripts, created new test scripts where necessary, determined appropriate test volume levels, reviewed environment configuration variables, and identified potential risks associated with production environment testing while developing corresponding mitigation strategies. We established performance baselines and conducted testing and analysis. Our team collaborated closely with product owners to evaluate, recommend, and select testing tools and infrastructure components based on the current technical environment, and developed an automated testing framework. The team performed analysis of previous test cases while validating associated scripts, revised existing scripts, and created additional test cases per client requirements. Recognizing the need for accurate baseline measurements, the team determined that establishing new test baselines would be essential for result interpretation. Testing scenarios were developed based on client defined parameters, and tests were executed across various load conditions to validate system performance under different stress levels.
